Hello Parents,

What a beautiful Friday we had today! Starting to feel more like Spring. Let’s talk about the great learning happening in class.

Some announcements!

  1. If you are anticipating on leaving Pine Ridge Elementary next year, please fill out the pink sheet that was sent home today. You can always e-mail me as well. This will help our administration tremendously with numbers for next year.

  2. Parent Teacher Conferences are going on next week. I had the opportunity o meet with a few of you last week and enjoyed it so much! I cannot believe we are already at Spring conferences! If you have not signed up for Spring conferences yet, please make sure to go online and sign up for a spot. There a few left. I will NOT be sending any sort of physical sign up. If you know you won’t be able to attend, I will send home the conference folder next Friday.

  3. GALA INFO: If you are interested in helping out our two wonderful mom’s with our silent auction basket, I know they would appreciate it so much! Lisa Mata and Kylie White have been amazing for stepping up and creating our Man/Sports themed basket! Send me and e-mail if you want to help!

Reading & Writing: In Reading & Writing this week, students did a week long project on important African Americans. Students researched about thirty different African Americans and picked one to write a paragraph on. Students utilized PebbleGo with this process. I was so proud of the students with the work that they did. In addition to this, it was their first time TYPING their final draft. Third graders in training! For the next 3 weeks, students are going to be doing similar projects, but we will adding our opinions to non-fiction texts that we research.

Math: Unit 5 assessment was today. Expect to get those back at conferences or next Friday if we have already met. Geometry is up next and students will be learning concepts relating to parallel, perpendicular, and different shapes.

Science: Students are going to create their own rainbows early next week to wrap up our study of how rainbows are made. Up next, we will be studying different weather patterns like tornadoes, blizzards and hail.
