Monster Marketplace
You have probably been hearing a lot about our Monster Marketplace from your child. For the past 6 years, I have been teaching with Class Dojo. This past July, Class Dojo rolled out some new features that have been exciting teachers, like myself! I contacted Class Dojo in San Francisco and let them know how much Class Dojo has been positively impacting my classes in the past and the current year I have now! They were so excited how much of an impact it has made with my class -- and how I have been teaching 10 other teachers at Pine Ridge to use this great resource. With that said, Class Dojo was amazing and gave our class a little goodie bag incentives to use in class beyond that of the points and new features. Our class is a small group of classrooms across our country that is testing out a new program that involves a plethora of new positive incentives to try our best in school stay positive and be the best 2nd grader we can be!
Mr. Mulligan’s Monster Marketplace was rolled out on Monday for students. With this, students received a Dojo Freedom Card that mirrors our credit cards. With each point students receive; they get dollars for the Marketplace. In addition to this, students get their own little avatar that will rise through the point clubs. At each point club milestone, students receive a special certificate, collector’s card and status. The students will work hard and watch their avatars grow from 0 points to 1,500 points by the end of the year.
Different items that students can purchase are incentives they can use in class. Swapping seats, line jumper, show & tell, pen for a day, fancy pencils, get out of homework/morning work, leading our brain break, etc. Lots of good stuff! In the pictures, you can see our Marketplace set up. I tried to keep it as organized as possible for the students and any parent that wishes to come in and view it! Take a peek at the pictures and have your child describe it for you. Student buy in = positive and an engaging class.
